Wider Estate

Abercairny Estate maintains a ‘low impact’ sporting policy integrated with our farming business. We believe that game and wildlife management is the foundation of good conservation and that field sports can contribute substantially to the conservation of landscape, habitat and wildlife.

Our Moorland Management Plan includes: predator and pest, deer and bracken control; muirburn mosaics; the creation of hedgerow wildlife corridors; buffer areas and water margins along agricultural land; wader scrapes; rush pasture cutting; and the planting of wild bird cover and Black Grouse friendly woodland. All this allows both game and non-game species (such as waders) to breed and flourish in a unique habitat for the benefit of all.
