Abercairny is so much more than a venue, it is a thriving estate and community! Take a look at what’s happening here:

Open Days ~

Keep an eye out for our Open Afternoons, Doors Open Days, and Scotland's Gardens events!

Community & Education ~
Auchlone Lodge on the Abercairny Estate is home to the Auchlone Nature Kindergarten. This child care facility offers a secure natural space inside
the lodge and a gently challenging outdoor investigative zone which supports young children to develop emotional confidence and skills.
This is provided by a large area of wild wood where they can feel the freedom of a fully natural environment.

Sport & Conservation ~
The estate is working hard to revitalise habitat for wild game and improve the environment for all wildlife. As members of Wildlife EstatesScotland we are collaborating with a number of organisations to monitor and encourage native flora and fauna including Red Grouse (Earn Tay Almond Grouse Management Group), Black Grouse (Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust Scotland), Red Squirrels (Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels), and wild bird species (British Trust for Ornithology). While enjoying the countryside please follow the Outdoor Access Code.

Agriculture ~
With its farming partners, the estate produces a wide range of organic and conventional cereals, root crops, and legumes on the low ground
farms. The in-hand hill ground has a Blackface/ Swaledale Sheep flock of over 1,000 ewes run in conjunction with the use of the lowground for wintering the breeding stock and fattening lambs. A smaller Jacob’s Sheep flock has been on Abercairny since at least 1815 and is one of the oldest in Scotland… this breed are said to have arrived in Britain from the shipwrecked Spanish ships of the Armada!

Forestry ~
Forestry is an important element in the land management programme on the Abercairny Estate. We aim to maintain the productive potential of the forest both for timber and shooting while improving its ecological and biodiversity value and the quality of informal public access.
