Come and join the Art Club at Abercairny Stables! Artist, Anna Parker, will be running an art club after school on starting starting Monday 8th September for 4 weeks... We will be
making environmental art, which means using nature to create sculptures and
drawings. Each week we will use whatever
materials nature provides, make an artwork together and photograph it. At the end of the course we will create books
to contain these images. We might also
include our own drawings, leaves, dried or pressed flowers, stones, sticks or
any other precious things.
Monday group – up to 9yrs Tuesday group – over 9yrs Following the success of the Summer Art Club, I am running a 4 week course before the October break. It costs £5 per session per child, including teaching, materials and a good snack. The afternoon is FUN! We make Environmental Art, that is we use our creativity to make Artwork from the materials provided by the natural seasonal changes that surround us. We do also use more traditional mediums like paint and paper and combinations of both. When we arrive at the stables we first have a snack of hot/cold drinks, biscuits, fruit, cake etc to fortify ourselves! Then I present my ideas, we chat about artists and decide what we’re going to make. We look particularly at Land Artists like Andy Goldsworthy and Richard Long. We then spend some time gathering materials and playing or exploring the woods as we go. We often make transient art which is photographed and then printed up for the following week. By the end of 4 weeks we may have a pile of drawings, paintings, photos, hand-made books, objects and sculptures to take home. We will also have the experience of working and playing together in the most amazing surroundings of the woods and gardens of Abercairny. Please do join us!
